Meet the Gorgeous Axel

Axel is a truly majestic 18-month-old Rottweiler x Catahoula Leopard Dog and the very definition of a gentle giant. He’s a wonderful example of a “5-in-1” dog—exceptional manners, social, sweet, loving, and incredibly intuitive.

Currently in foster care, Axel lives peacefully with four small dogs whom he is very gentle and protective over (and happily takes correction from!). He is playful, calm, and affectionate, with a kind soul and a heart of pure gold. Axel has an amazing ability to read situations and respond appropriately—he just seems to know how to behave.

Axel loves people and accepts everything that comes his way with grace. He forms a strong bond with his primary handler, as his breed naturally loves to serve and stay loyal to their person, but he’s still affectionate and friendly with others too.

Axel is looking for a low-traffic home with people who truly appreciate gentle giants. Due to his size and sensitivity, he is not suitable for homes with children under the age of 15, including visiting children. We would ideally love to see Axel placed with a single adult or couple.

While Axel is social on walks and enjoys meeting new friends, we feel he would thrive best as the only dog in the home, with no other dogs or cats, and plenty of space just for him.

He enjoys both physical and mental enrichment but doesn’t need excessive exercise—Axel is just as happy enjoying a gentle walk as he is stretching out for a long nap on the sofa beside you.
