Safeguarding Statement

April 2025

This statement sets out Happy Landing’s approach to safeguarding.  Protecting people (as well as our animals) is central to our culture; we aim to do everything we reasonably can to safeguard and support our staff, volunteers, and supporters.

The Trustees commit to:

  • following safeguarding statutory and good practice guidance
  •  sets out any identified risks and how they will be managed in its risk register
  • regularly reviewing and communicate its safeguarding policy/procedure, which is applicable to trustees, staff, partners and volunteers
  • ensuring the policy/procedure clearly advise people on how to spot and report concerns promptly
  • being quick to respond to, log, and investigate any concerns raised
  • taking concerns seriously and not downplaying them
  • recruiting people who are safe and suitable to act in their respective roles
  • maintaining a balanced trustee board where each trustee feels able to speak up
